How to become disciplined.

Discipline will always beat talent. As such, you should prioritize habitual work over passionate work. This is what will lead to success. Here is how....

1. Define your why This step is crucial. Without a why there will be no reason to keep going. Sure you will make it through the first 1-5 days. But after that? Think of your why as your insurance: It will be the reason to keep going, even if you hate doing it. For any change you want to make in life, you must realize that a shift in identity is required. What person do you want to be? A vibrant, energetic being or a soulless, negative coward? The choice is yours. How to find your why: - Focus on what you are good at - Focus on how you can help others - Focus on how you want to perceive yourself - Focus on how you want to be perceived by others - Focus on defining your desired legacy From here, you can get to work.

2. Establish a plan A goal without a plan isn’t a goal, it’s a dream. You need to know HOW you are going to achieve the things that you desire. Build a solid plan first. Then start building. How to plan: - Make a list of weekly priorities - Convert them into daily tasks (be realistic) - Eat the frog first - Knock the others out one by one - Plan necessary brakes (go outside at least every 2 hrs) You can't go wrong if you do this.

3. Establish routines Your motivation is too unreliable to fall back on. Working on your dreams should be a default action, not something you have to think about. During this time of thinking, many ways to distract yourself will have popped up. How to build routines: - Start small - Increase small - As you build, break habits into chunks - Never miss a habit twice - Be patient (stick to a sustainable pace) - If you miss once, do not throw everything out the window

4. Do everything with passion Every action you take, even if you don't feel like it. Mike Tyson said it best: “Discipline is doing what you hate to do, but nonetheless doing it as you love it” This way you will fulfill even the most daunting tasks. This is about a mindset shift. Before you were thinking of hard things as pain. Now you should embrace them. Try to see beauty in every bit of struggle. You are going through it for a reason. How to be passionate about anything: - Focus on just the day ahead - Focus on just the one task - Trick your mind - Step away if you need to

5. Limit any distractions

How do you expect to stay the course when you are constantly distracted?
You need to limit outside influences in order to protect your:
- Focus
- Energy
- Mental well-being

How to limit distractions:
- Phone on airplane mode for 90% of the day
- Use noise-canceling headphones (with or without sounds)
- Only have max. 2 tabs open at the same time
- Work with a focus timer
- Get up every 60 mins minimum

6. REFLECT
It is crucial to learn from your mistakes if you want to improve.
Recognize why you slipped up, or why certain things worked.
Pay attention to these so that you can adjust accordingly.

How to reflect:
- Go for walks
- Talk to your friend or spouse
- Make it a weekly habit (Sundays are great)
- Write down your challenges of the week
- Make plans for changes

7. IMPLEMENT
No use in reflecting on your plan, if you are not going to implement your reflections.
This is the most essential step, as it will ensure continuous improvement.
Improvement = meaning = happiness.

How to implement:
- Assess the possible impact of the change
- Make minor tweaks
- Build upon those tweaks
- Seek feedback
- Be honest with yourself.
